Our Achievements

Since our founding, the Cotswold Canals Trust has been dedicated to restoring and protecting the historic Cotswold Canals. Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and the support of our communities, we have made remarkable progress in bringing these waterways back to life.

Our work has created beautiful, accessible spaces for everyone to enjoy while reconnecting communities and celebrating local heritage. With over 300 volunteers and strong partnerships, we continue to drive restoration projects forward.

The Western Depot at Eastington, upgraded through a generous bequest, now supports growing Phase 1B projects with skilled volunteers and improved facilities.

Opened in 2023, the Eastern Depot serves volunteers east of Sapperton Tunnel, offering a well-equipped base in all weather.

Eastern Depot

In the east, volunteers keep five miles of towpath from Siddington to Latton clear and accessible.

In the west, eight miles have been upgraded to a two-metre-wide multi-user trail for walkers, cyclists, wheelchair users, and parents with buggies.

Eastern Towpath Maintenance

The CCT has steadily built up a dredging fleet to maintain an adequate depth in the canal. Back in 2010, a section of canal in the east was dredged from Spine Road Bridge to Cerney Wick Lock. However an ongong programme of dredging has been undertaken in the west on both the Phase 1A and 1B sections.

We are a volunteer led charity restoring the Cotswold Canals. Join us today and be part of something amazing.
