BBC Radio 4 Visits the Cotswold Canals
In February, we were delighted to welcome Martha Kearney and producer Emma from BBC Radio 4 to the Cotswold Canals for a recording of the programme Open Country.
The visit began at Ebley, where they met our fantastic trip boat volunteers Mike, Mark and Steve and enjoyed a short boat trip along the restored canal (Phase 1A). From there, the team travelled to Eastington to see restoration work in progress at John Robinson Lock and Oldbury Brook, speaking with volunteers Bridget, Matthew and Pat about the ongoing work to restore this historic waterway.
The day finished with a visit to Fromebridge Nature Reserve, where our partners at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust are helping to demonstrate how canal restoration can support both heritage and wildlife. The programme explored how collaboration between organisations and volunteers is helping nature and heritage thrive side by side along the canal corridor.
