Looooong day on t’canal.
Yard at 07:30, unhitched digger trailer (very heavy going)
Collect brutal 6″ chipper from great team at Ermin Plant Hire co.
To Ham Mill where 1st. class team ready to go.
Don my chainsaw safety gear.
Crank chipper, instruct team, start chipping.
Digger driver, safety man and I start tree felling. (Numerous waits for pedestrians, many of whom want to chat!)
Move felled tree to process area, where second chainsaw peeps have arrived, team now nine strong!
Repeat felling process 10 times.
Clear up work area, back to yard, unload logs (everyone else gone home, it’s 16:30!)
Put vehicle away, lock up, go home, 17:15!
But what a fabulous job we’ve done, creating a wonderful open view from Ham Mill lock all the way to Griffin’s Mill Lock, with Jubilee Bridge now in clear view.
BTW, most of the trees were in a dangerous state, internal rotting, leaning heavily or with very heavy limbs dangerously hanging off.
