Blunder Lock – the end maybe?

A lot more cutting and drilling and chiselling was needed and it went on for a very long time. Some very sore hands and arms were the result. The holes had to be cut so as to form a platform for the brick repairs. The repairs may look a bit stark but when the lock refills it does not take long for them to get covered over.

Jon’s crew had taken a large portion of the scaffold down and when the repairs were completed the remaining scaffolding was taken down and transferred to Prentice field ready for a trip to Newtown lock. The old tool store was moved, ready for its contents to be transferred to our new to us and bigger tool store-nicely fitted out by the depot chippies. The groundhog will be moved next so that the smokey genie can be fixed hopefully.
The job has been completed in less than 3 months through a joint effort by 2 brilliant crews working together. An excellent job all round and a big thank you to everyone. Some lessons have been learned and can be used at our next stop at Newtown lock, for basically a similar exercise.
At some point in the future new top gates and paddle gear will be bought and fitted but not this month.
