It may be the last day of December, but no better time but to get on with a spot of interior and exterior decorating! Continuing on from yesterday’s successful working party, we were able to reach a highly satisfactory and rewarding stage as the early evening light dimmed proceedings.
Inside, it was a case of applying second coats to the white and green applied yesterday. some of that had soaked well into the wood and maybe a third could be needed to get a proper solid finish.
Outside, we got to work as soon as the superstructure had dried off. The old identity of ‘Bob’ slowly faded away as we took abrasive action to the paint and sign writing.
Down below, the hull received a thorough scraping and later in the afternoon, we were able to apply the first coat of blacking.
By end of play, all of the superstructure had received red oxide or blacking, just the end doors of the cabin, bow & stern and the two hatch lids left to be given the treatment. The inside is really looking very smart now. A number of small jobs remain, these we should have completed by the end of January next year.
