East end maintenance back at work
A working party of enthusiastic volunteers assembled this morning at Siddington Locks. There were a few cobwebs to shake off after having an enforced absence since the last working day on 21st December, three whole months ago. The focus had suddenly shifted from mince pies to hot-cross buns, hopefully the routine will kick back in now before it gets round to fresh strawberries and cream.
The aim of today’s expedition was clearing up some dead wood around the locks and having a general tidy up. Siddington was flight of 4 locks, the clear up started on lock 3 and worked back up the rise to the pound between the top lock and number 2.

The team hard at work, note that the sun didn’t even come out to welcome us, it waited until we were all back home.
There might not be any water in the canal here, but there was the ubiquitous shopping trolley.

Bonfire supervision
As well as the shopping trolley and a traffic cone, there were copious amounts of other metal and rubbish to collect for disposal.
Overall, it was a very productive morning, everyone is now looking forward to another day off next week then it’ll be back in full swing the week after.
