Ocean Jubilee Bridge Leak
A series of investigations have been conducted at the Ocean Jubilee Bridge to try to identify the exact location of the leak. These trials have not yet resulted in a definitive location of the source of the leak and further trials, using dye testing, are now being conducted.
The leak is stable and the main impact is the standing water in the field to the south of the canal, and water flowing over the track onto the lane to Beards Mill.
We are now putting in additional measures to prevent the flow of water into the lane and these include:
Installing a row of sandbags along the fence line to hold back the standing water in the field.
Filling the small depression on the inside of the bend.Improving the drainage from the field using existing Network Rail drainage assets in the area of the pond
We will need to close the towpath between the Ocean swing bridge and Bonds Mill lift bridge from the week commencing 3rd April in order to allow the necessary trial holes to be dug in the towpath for the dye testing. It is not known at this stage how long the closure will be, however I would hope that is no more than two weeks.
We have been monitoring the leak on a frequent basis and apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused to the residents of Beards Mill. We will continue to work with Network Rail on finding, and fixing, the cause of this leak.
