Preparing to Tug the Mud

It’s all about to start happening west of Bonds Mill to dredge the untouched canal section along to Pike Lock. The new Bailey Bridge is in and taking the traffic and next week should see the removal of the old lift bridge. Once that happens, we will be able to pass mud hoppers under the new bridge to facilitate the transport of silt back to Harpers Field for disposal.
Dredger Hamster has been patiently waiting at Newtown Lock and today, was joined by our Tug transfered from the Brewery site near Brimscombe. Dredger Gloop continues working just east of Bonds Mill Bridge.
The 6 Tonne load was quite close to the HIAB’s lifting limit, but was safely executed. If all goes well, we should be seriously dredging in a fortnight.
