The facilities cabin is nothing but a bare shell, so a full refit is required. A sensible place to start is to fit a floor and it was suggested that we could deploy a number of trench plates, which are free and we have in quantity. They only just need profiling to size. Cutting them is a somewhat dusty job, one which saw the deployment of extreme PPE!
However the finished job has the qualities of being very non slip and 100% rot proof.
The Chippies have also constructed a double step assembly leading down into the cabin. (no photo…yet)
Our Lister engine starter motor has now been fully reconditioned and tested. It is now looking resplendent back on the engine!
Out in the yard, repairs to the fibreglass cabins is progressing well. There are many unwanted holes and cracks to repair. Two cabins are ready to prime. No.3 is work in progress.
We have also received all the metal components associated with the cabins back from shot blasting and priming. An assessment of all the nuts and bolts required to reassemble these bits has now morphed into a purchase request. They will be of stainless steel, of course.
Enjoying and celebrating the fact that we now have a cost code to order new materials to, all the metal required for the front leg safety platforms, together with new decking panels to replace those that have developed tea strainer like properties due to corrosion.
The weather has been kind this week, productivity good and so less time spent pumping out the bilges.
