Join the 3rd Cohort of our Canal Youth Group!
Are you aged 11–16 and want to make a real difference to the heritage and wildlife along the Stroud and Stonehouse canal corridor?
Our youth group offers the chance to get involved in hands-on activities that help care for and improve the local environment – from litter picking and sowing wildflowers to planting trees and cutting back overgrown vegetation.
No experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in!
Volunteering with us is a great way to spend time outdoors, stay active, and meet new friends, all while learning practical skills and discovering more about the nature and heritage of the canal. If you attend all sessions, your time with us can also count towards the volunteering section of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
We’ll meet on Sunday afternoons, 1-3 pm on the following dates – you should be able to make most/ideally all of these:
- 1st March 2026
- Saturday 14th March 2026
- 29th March 2026
- 12th April 2026
- 26th April 2026
- 10th May 2026
We’ll meet at different points along the canal between Wallbridge (Stroud) and Eastington, to be confirmed before each session.
Sessions will go ahead in any weather, so you’ll need sturdy boots/wellies and a waterproof coat (and ideally waterproof trousers) in case it rains. If you don’t have these, let us know – you’ll be able to borrow some. We’ll provide gloves, all equipment as well as a snack and drink.
All participants will receive a certificate and a badge on completion.
