At last, some fine weather to help us in the final stages of this project. The two main areas of activity have been the interior and exterior decorating and engine repair.
All that remains on the outside to complete is the deck painting, trip hazards in white and CCT logo’s. Inside the cabin, we have now replaced the panelling, but with the addition of sound deadening material on the metal.
A few spare sheets have also been stuck to the inside of the engine covers, they will take a few more to fully line. The interior now looks clean and tidy and will be a spacious comfortable area to work in. We must check the air conditioning unit! (fan)
The engine now has its new cylinder liner fitted. Today, we further back flushed the water channels in the engine. The temporary oil has been removed and the final new oil inserted. All manifold and other service connections have been installed and the engine fired up. Apart from an easily fixed manifold gasket (slight) leak, it ran very well. We were able to get it up to temperature and check the coolant levels and inspect for any drips. All that remains to do now, is add the antifreeze. The electrics were checked again, the batteries were charging correctly.
Our final act for today, was to wash down the decks in readiness for the non slip paint treatment.
