Weedie crewed for the second week by skipper Malcolm W and Chris K set off from upper Mills towards Ryeford locks cutting weed and picking up weedies most hated item, sticks and hidden broken branches. Sticks and broken branches get jammed in weedies cutting blades and require a landing to free them. Always helpful if other passing boats and towpath volunteers can pick them up.
We arrived at Ryeford locks to meet the passing trip boats. Then it was time to clear the lower lock gates and lock walls of weeds.
On our return we stopped at Harper’s field to empty our load of weed and have lunch. While eating our lunch we were able to hear the new engine of Delilah being started for the first time.
We then returned back to Upper Mills to clean up weedie.
On my slow cycle home I viewed Bob’s team man handling the coping stones back on Dudbridge locks.
